My Original Artwork ~ Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria

I’m happy to say I’ve completed my Original Artwork ~ Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria (11″ x 14″), which was my most challenging painting to date, as the famous historical setting requires good attention to detail.  I was able to use a little artistic license and decorate the riverfront with a touch of Christmas decorations though, including: wreaths on the bridge, red bows on the street lamps, and a central Christmas tree.

I have one more blank 11″ x 14″ canvas remaining, and haven’t decided yet what the subject will be, but afterwards I’ll stay with larger 18″ x 36″ canvasses for city profiles.  I like the concept of including the name of the city on the painting, as it derives from sketches I drew with a similar format while on my solo bicycle adventure to England, Scotland, Wales and France back in 1979 ~ enjoy! ☼ 🙂

My Original Artwork-in-Progress (Update 6) ~ Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria

Yesterday we rearranged our living room, and I moved my easel into our dining room for a change, giving us a different perspective of my current Original Artwork-in-Progress ~ Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria (11″ x 14″).  I’m in the final stages of completing this painting, and my wife decided to photograph it in its new setting because the light was good.

I’m halfway towards completing the stretch of row houses along the Salzach River that flows through Salzburg, Austria, and still need to add in the details of the houses and street scene.  I’ve decided to create a Christmastime setting as I love Christmas, so I’m adding in tasteful holiday decorations as I go along, like red bows on the streetlamps.

I’m enjoying using a bit of artistic license in the end stages of this painting, as I create and decorate the idyllic street scene running alongside the historic center of Salzburg ~ and I hope to finish up in a week or so ~ enjoy! ☼ 🙂

My Original Artwork-in-Progress (Update 5) ~ Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria

This is my fifth update serializing the progress of my current Original Artwork-in-Progress ~ ‘Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria’  (11″ x 14″).  I’m now at the point of painting the buildings lining the banks of the Salzach River in winter.  The city’s historic buildings are part of the nighttime backdrop of the painting, while the brightly lit and colorful buildings along the river will be the center focal point that draws the eye, with their many lights and lamps reflecting across the surface of the water.

I’ve upgraded the backdrop for photographing my paintings, as the photography aspect of my artwork was not a priority before, but my wife takes very nice photos with her tablet, so she’s now taking the photos! 🙂 My next Salzburg painting update should be once it’s finished, but there are a lot of details to complete between now and then ~ enjoy! ☼ 🙂

My Original Artwork-in-Progress (Update 4) ~ Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria

This is my forth update serializing the progress of my current Original Artwork-in-Progress ~ ‘Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria’  (11″ x 14″).  You can see that I’m now beginning on the center highlight of the painting ~ the historic buildings and the buildings lining the banks of the Salzach River in winter.  While the historic buildings will be part of the nighttime backdrop of the painting, the brightly lit and colorful buildings along the river will be the center focal point, with the many lights and lamps reflecting across the surface of the water.

I’ll also mention that I paint on a blue beach towel draped across my new and ‘still fresh’ white drafting table in my studio, as it keeps paint off the table ~ and securely holds the canvas in place while painting on an incline, while still allowing me to turn it at will.  This photo turned out much better than my previous photo efforts, as my wife used her tablet to take today’s photo ~ fun facts to know and tell, stay tuned, enjoy! ☼ 🙂

My Original Artwork-in-Progress (Update 2) ~ Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria

This is my second update about my current Original Artwork-in-Progress ~ ‘Salzburg, Österreich or Salzburg, Austria.’  I enjoy serializing the progress of how my paintings slowly develop, because the process helps bring a painting to life over the seasons of its evolution.

I’ll paint one more smaller 11″ x 14″ canvas like my current work-in-progress, and then I’ll return to my favorite 18″ x 36″ size to focus more on larger city profile projects in the future.  My current work-in-progress is called ‘Salzburg, Österreich’ (11″ x 14″) – using the German spelling for Salzburg, Austria.  I’ll share updates of my painting progress with you from time-to-time, to show how this painting develops ~ enjoy! ☼:)

After a pause in painting art, to paint our house and do some landscaping in the yard over the past few months, I’ve set up a new art studio in our home and started painting again!  I very much enjoy composing and painting images I love, and now that I have a new standing drafting table, I can immerse myself in my art once again! 🙂 My favorite compositions are based on city profiles, where there are distinctive buildings, landscape features and profiles that I can incorporate into my paintings.

I have two smaller 11″ x 14″ canvasses to use at the moment, and then I’ll return to my favorite 18″ x 36″ size to focus more on larger projects in the future.  My current work-in-progress is called ‘Salzburg, Österreich’ (11″ x 14″) – using the German spelling for Salzburg, Austria.  I’ll share updates of my painting progress with you from time-to-time, to show how this painting develops ~ enjoy! ☼ 🙂
